Projects

The Building Intelligence Into Intelligent Buildings project combines a number of activities in the area of intelligent environments, sensor networks and pervasive computing.

Self-Programming Intelligent Environments

The goal of this activity is to develop intuitive programming abstractions for intelligent buildings, which will allow ordinary people to control the intelligent environments that they inhabit.

The main activity in this area is the development of an intelligent lighting control system that combines techniques from sensor networks and artificial intelligence to control the lights in an internal hallway at the Technical University of Denmark.

This activity is supported by a grant from the Strategic Research Fund of the department of Informatics and Mathematical Modelling at the Technical University of Denmark and an equipment grant from Zensys A/S.

Smart House Smulation Tool

The goal of this activity is to develop simple and intuitive simmulation tools that facilitates the development of intelligent environments. These tools will allow "DIY" developers of intelligent environment to define the physical constraints of the environment (e.g., the floor plan of their house") and orchestrate it with sensors and actuators that behave according to predefined models. The tools will allow the developers to define simple simulation scenarios, which include the movement of people in the intelligent environment and external events. Simulation of these scenarios will produce all relevant sensor output and show the effects of controling the actuators in the intelligent environment.
