At a discussion meeting and a reception held at DTU Informatics on November 7, 2011, the extensive inter-regional project ‘Vind I Øresund’ (= Wind Power in Øresund) was formally closed. A number of prominent and key operators within the renewable energy areas ensured a lively and innovative discussion that promises extremely well for the hearing planned to take place at the premises of the Danish Parliament after New Year.
The newly appointed DTU Provost, Henrik Wegener, opened the discussion meeting. As a matter of fact, this occasion was his debut as DTU Provost. Among other things he said:
‘Vind I Øresund’ follows up beautifully on a long historical tradition of collaboration between DTU and the University of Lund, Sweden. This project plays an extremely important role in the political process that should lead us to a fossil free society.'
Following the opening the Journalist Carsten Broder Hansen took the floor to conduct the meeting and
|three members of
the ‘Vind I Øresund’ Steering Committee presented the project
results and plans for the future work:
Professor Georg Lindgren,
Professor Henrik Madsen,

Ass. Professor Olof Samuelsson, IEA LTH
The two regional technical
universities, DTU and LTH, are active operators in 70-80% of all
European research projects within wind power and renewable energy.
‘Vind I Øresund’ has lifted this collaboration to a new level,
and the political participants in the discussion meeting affirmed
both responsiveness and the importance of maintaining the momentum
achieved to create an even larger political focus on wind power
The discussion meeting, which formally closed the ‘Vind I Øresund’ project, was also an opportunity for DTU’s Provost, Henrik Wegener, and the Lyngby-Taarbæk Mayor, Søren P. Rasmussen, to get to know each other and to confirm further cooperation opportunities.
