Abstract: We present our Nonlinear Physics group with some of its research activities in two topics of nonlinear Physics: Solitons dynamics, and Nonlinear Vibrations and Chaos. For the solitons dynamics we have analysed the discreteness effects on topological solitons and shed some light on the diffusion of electric and magnetic domain walls, on collective motion of adatoms on metallic surfaces, on fluxons dynamics, on nonlinear excitations in molecular chains and nonlinear electrical transmission lines. For the second topic, our interest has been concentrated on nonlinear vibrations and chaos, their control and synchronisation with applications in mechanical and electromechanical engineering.
