MIDIT-seminar 473

Wednesday April 26, 2000, 15.00 h
at MIDIT, IMM, Bldg. 305, Room 027, DTU,

Abstract: This lecture intends to give an introduction into the fascinating field of dynamical localization in spatially discrete systems. Discrete breathers, which are nontopological excitations, play a key role in this concept. Applications range from macroscopic devices (coupled pendula), mesoscopic systems (arrays of Josephson junctions, coupled wave guides) to systems with localization on anometer scales (many phonon and magnon bound states in molecules and solids).
