The school was established August 2001 by researchers at The school is funded by the participating universities and the Danish Research Training Council. The goal of the school is to assist education of researchers in image processing, signal processing and pattern recognition, by extending and consolidating the research education activities (phd-courses, workshops, visitors), creating tighter phd-student networks, and finally by offering a professional infrastructure.

The school welcomes visiting postdocs and phd-students, and can assist visitors with travel funding, practical help, housing etc.
