Over the past few decades computer graphics has evolved into a broad field covering diverse areas such as image synthesis (rendering), image processing, geometry processing, texturing, animation, object reconstruction, perception, physics simulation, material appearance modelling, and computer aided design.

The applications are plenty and diverse, ranging from computer games over medical visualization to architectural design. In the Image Analysis and Computer Graphics Section at DTU Informatics, our graphics research is focused on rendering and geometry processing.

Computer Vision & 3D Measurements

/upload/institutter/imm/image analysis & computer graphics/page - research/ear_wireframe_black.jpgCameras are becoming omnipresent and collect a lot of information. To fully benefit from this, the useful information has to be extracted automatically from the images, since it is infeasible to do it manually. This is the area of Computer Vision.

In the Image Analysis and Computer Graphics section at DTU Informatics conducts research in computer vision with special emphasis on extraction of 3D information.

Industrial Inspection & Food Quality

/upload/institutter/imm/image analysis & computer graphics/page - research/meat3d.jpgDTU Informatics hosts the industrial image laboratory. Here industrial vision applications can be tested under realistic conditions.

Non-invasive inspection of food products is a developing area and it fits well in DTUs advanced science profile area: food science.

Medical Image Analysis

/upload/institutter/imm/image analysis & computer graphics/page - research/skulls.jpgMedical engineering is an advanced profile area for DTU. DTU Informatics supports this by research in medical image analysis. Medical image analysis is a highly interdisciplinary area, where methods such as optimisation, computer graphics, statistics, and physics are used.

We have an extensive collaboration with industry, hospitals and research institutions both nationally and internationally.
