Informatics and mathematical modelling play an increasingly important role in society. IMM's national and international research impact is based on a creative combination of computer science and applied mathematics. The research at DTU Informatics is published (
DTU Informatics publications) in international peer reviewed journals and presented at leading international conferences.
DTU Informatics researchers are principal investigators in large multi-institutional research projects and participates in numerous national and international research consortia.

Research projects from the institute range from basic to applied research, most projects have industrial partners, or are carried out in collaboration with other research institutions and organizations.
The department has a very active graduate student enviroment with more than 50 PhD-students. The ITMAN graduate school (established i 2005) offers research training involving all groups at DTU Informatics.
