You have 9 soda bottles from which you can get a deposit. If it takes 4 bottles to buy 1 new, how any bottles can you buy?
That was one of the easy questions put to the contestants participating in the National Championship in Programming which was held this Saturday. All in all 21 teams fought to win a travel gift card worth 10.000 DKR as well as the title of Danish champion in programming.

The winners of the National Championship in Programming:
Jenz Hertz, Thomas Lyngby Vestergaard and Anders Pedersen
Teams from both DTU, Aarhus University and Syddansk University had shown up for battle, but it was Team TA from DTU Informatics who ended up victorious – a victory they did not achieve easily.
“There were 10 different tasks for us to solve and we only had time to solve 5 of them. The assignments were very ingenious and it was necessary to think creatively,” says Jens Hertz who is a masters student at DTU Informatics.
The main coordinator behind the event was the IT consultancy company Netcompany. The reason Netcompany has chosen to initiate the competition is to expand the awareness of the consultancy firm and to inspire the students:
“Generally we think too little is done to inspire and entertain IT students, so the opportunity to sponsor the NC in Programming is very welcome. At the same time it resembles our everyday work where it is important to think twice and deliver good results, which is the core of our work,” says Susanne Hansen from Netcompany.
There is no doubt that the winner team, which consisted of Jens Hertz, Thomas Lyngby Vestergaard, and Anders Pedersen was inspired, and they look forward to make good use of the travel gift card:
“We are going to Germany to participate in the European Championship, and hopefully we will get all the way to the finals in China where the World Championship is held.”
The National Championship in Programming was arranged by Netcompany, NCPC, DTU Informatics and IEEE Student Branch DTU.
