This weekend offered sunshine – and the ‘Festival of Research’. The Festival of Research is an annual nationwide event meant to raise interest and understanding of the research that is going on in Denmark.
Therefore, by passers in Lyngby Storcenter could sniff and touch some of the research that is currently going on at DTU Informatics.
One of the research projects that could be experienced was a so called ‘Multi-touch table’.
A ‘Multi-touch table’ is a table where the table top is a computer screen. Place a finger on the table and the finger will work as a mouse, enabling you to touch many different places on the screen at the same time. Several people can use the table at the same time, and that provides many new possibilities for interaction.
For example any number of keyboards can be displayed on the screen and written on simultaneously. This opens up for a whole new way of working together.
With the help of a ‘Multi-touch table’ it is also possible to turn, reduce or enlarge objects by dragging them with your fingers – Imagination is the only limit to how this technology can be used.
The research project is developed in the Image analysis and computer graphics group at DTU Informatics.
By following this link you can see a video demonstration of the table.
