The goal of this course is to introduce the students to simulation and visualization of physical phenomena.
- In the first part of the course we will go through numerical algorithms for solving Navier-Stokes equations and diverse approximations for these equations and demonstrate how they can be used for simulation of smoke, water, surface waves, ect.
- In the second part of the course wel will look at the methods for simulating the optical characteristics for smoke and water in order to achieve a realistic visualization of these.
- At the end of the course, the student whould be able to implement a system which can simulate and visualize smoke or water in movement.
Course requirements
The participants must have taken at least one of the following DTU courses (or have qualifications corresponding to these): 02561, 02563, 02566, or 02585.
Experience with differential equations, fluid dynamics and C/C++ programming is recommended.
